SUMMARY:Two of the Wine World’s Most Inspiring People are at TIME Family of Wines
DESCRIPTION:Sisters Christa-Lee & Darrien McWatters NamedAmong Wine Industry Network’s 10 Most Inspiring People 2021 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n[Penticton\, BC] TIME Family of Wines is excited to start the new year with some major recognition! Team members and sisters Christa-Lee and Darrien McWatters have been chosen among Wine Industry Network’s (WIN) Most Inspiring People of 2021. Read the article online here.   \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWIN annually selects 10 industry individuals that exemplify leadership\, innovation\, and inspiration to win this award. In 2021\, WIN received more than 100 submissions\, with the editorial team narrowing it down to the 10 finalists that sincerely impacted North American wine culture. For the first time ever\, sisters cracked the top 10! Christa-Lee and Darrien McWatters\, general manager and operations manager respectively at TIME Family of Wines\, are well known in British Columbia\, and now the wine world will know their names. This award validates what many people in the BC wine industry have already noticed\, and proves that the McWatters sisters are celebrating the work first started by their father\, the late Harry McWatters. Kathleen Wilcox of Wine Industry Network notes “Christa-Lee and Darrien McWatters manage to honour their family’s incredible history and legacy in Canadian wine\, while fearlessly pushing their brands into the future.”  \n\n\n\nWIA’s Most Inspiring People  As Wilcox explains in the recognition article\, the sisters received this accolade for their ability to be adaptable and innovative\, while paving the way for others.According to a post from WIN\, “Darrien and Christa-Lee have remained steadfast in their leadership positions despite the evolution of the industry\, their father’s death and the pandemic—all of which ultimately transformed what they saw as their—and the brand’s—trajectory.”Throughout the pandemic\, the two worked to sell the winery to new owners Ron and Shelley Mayert\, and update the winery with new brands\, fresh new packaging\, and plan for expansions (including the addition of a second location at the District Wine Village in Oliver\, BC and the purchase of a vineyard near Osoyoos). The WIN post adds “change\, for the McWatters\, is a healthy and welcome part of life. Darrien’s journey\, and her family’s reaction to her personal metamorphosis as she completed her gender transition in 2021\, is a powerful demonstration of the reach and power of their commitment to carefully considered advancement.” Like her father\, Darrien has been a true trailblazer and role model to those around her.“Darrien and Christa-Lee take their prominent position as role models in the world of wine seriously\, and both are keen to speak openly about the manner in which family\, business\, and the reality of modern life can overlap.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout TIME Family of WinesBuilt within a historic and revitalized movie theatre in downtown Penticton\, and a satellite location in Oliver’s District Wine Village\, TIME Family of Wines is the parent company to Chronos\, Evolve Cellars and the McWatters Collection. Wine lovers in the Okanagan are invited to visit the elegant tasting bar and restaurant (in Penticton)and discover beautifully crafted wines for any occasion\, as well as the best gourmet burger and locally curated casual dishes in the Okanagan. Experience one of the elevated wine tasting experiences like the ever-popular Sabre School\, It’s TIME to Get Cheesy\, or the Signature Tasting which includes an exclusive barrel tasting.

SUMMARY:MAIN ST. BREWING SPY THEMED SEASONAL BEER SERIES
DESCRIPTION:Cloak-and-Dagger-Inspired Collection of New Brews Wraps with January’s ‘Double or Nothing’ DIPA\, February’s ‘That Sinking Feeling’ Italian Pilsner \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFans of Main St. Brewing’s latest beer lineup can find out how the adventures of ‘IPAgent’ Holly Hoppington turn out when the Mount Pleasant brew crew releases the final two beers in their spy-themed series beginning with a ‘Double or Nothing’ DIPA today. \n\n\n\nInspired by the latest James Bond film ‘No Time to Die’ that arrived in theatres last fall\, Main St.’s latest seasonal series pits the plucky fictional IPAgent against evil henchmen and nefarious villains in a variety of European locales as she races against time to secure secret recipes and essential ingredients. The lineup of limited-edition brews kicked off last September with a ‘Trouble Weighs a ’Tun’ Export India Porter and continued in October with a ‘Norwegian Rendezvous’ Nordic IPA. \n\n\n\nAvailable in extremely limited quantities\, the ‘Double or Nothing’ (8.8% ABV/55 IBU) finds Holly at the blackjack table in a casino on a mission to secure a highly volatile compound known as Phantasm from a double agent working for the Society to Terminate Ale\, or S.T.A.L.E. The IPAgency needs the secret ingredient to supercharge the blend of Ekuanot Incognito\, Hallertau Blanc and Cryo M-20 hops in the DIPA and boost the bold and juicy notes of pineapple\, citrus and gooseberries. \n\n\n\nThe series will end with ‘That Sinking Feeling’ Italian Pilsner (5.1% ABV/27 IBU) in mid-February\, but Holly won’t go lightly — she’ll embark on her final mission by tangling with a shadowy international hop broker and look to satisfy a thirst for revenge with a crisp pilsner that conjures up a honey and melon-like sweetness courtesy of Venetian Eraclea malt and lemony Saphir and floral Barbe Rouge hops. \n\n\n\nDouble or Nothing will be available on draught and in 473-ml single cans and four-packs in the Main St. tap room and retail store (261 East Seventh Ave.) starting today\, Wednesday\, January 12 as well as in select BC Liquor stores and private stores such as Vancouver’s Brewery Creek Cold Beer & Wine (3045 Main St.) and Kitsilano Liquor Store (2289 West Broadway)\, North Vancouver’s The Gull Liquor Store (900-333 Brooksbank Ave.)\, Ridgeway Beer Wine Spirits in Maple Ridge (21280 Lougheed Hwy.) and the Shark Club Liquor Store (20169 88 Ave.) in Langley. \n\n\n\nSAUSAGELAND JOINS THE FOOD MENU AT MAIN ST. BREWINGVisitors have a new food option to pair with their beer at Main St. now that Sausageland has set up shop in the brewery’s back of house. Created by the same team behind the Burgerland Smash Up trailer located outside Main St. that serves up regionally inspired smashburgers\, Sausageland offers house-made ethical meat and vegetarian/vegan-friendly sausages\, chili and terrine made with Main St. beer in addition to charcuterie and cheese boards\, customized baked potatoes and a selection of grab-and-go favourites. Sausageland is available exclusively in the Main St. tap room and for pickup from noon to 8 p.m. Sundays\, Wednesdays and Thursdays and on Fridays and Saturdays from noon to 10 p.m. \n\n\n\nFor more information on Main St. Brewing or to stay up to date on all the latest beer launches\, go to mainstreetbeer.ca\, become a fan of /MainStreetBeer on Facebook or follow @mainstreetbeer on Instagram. \n\n\n\nHigh-resolution images can be downloaded by clicking on the images above or via Dropbox. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT MAIN ST. BREWING | Tucked into an historic heritage building that was formerly the heart of the Vancouver brewing scene in the 1800s\, Main St. has been producing offbeat\, outside-the-box and unconventional beers since it was first launched in 2014. Much like the area it calls home\, Main St. Brewing embraces tradition while testing boundaries and offers a tasting room\, patio and retail store that tap into the spirit of a neighbourhood where creativity\, eclectic characters and pride of place collide and connect in new and exciting ways. On Main St.\, everyone is welcome and everyone is embraced. Bend an elbow\, lend an ear and raise a glass. | mainstreetbeer.ca \n\n\n\n261 East Seventh Avenue\, Vancouver BC  V5T 0B8 | 604-336-7711 | Tap room and retail store open seven days a week from noon to 11 p.m. | Happy Hour Monday through Friday noon to 4 p.m. and Sundays 7 p.m. to close.
