SUMMARY:12th Annual BC Iconic Reds Tasting Competition
DESCRIPTION:This is BC’s ultimate red wine consumer tasting at which consumers taste and judge the very best BC red blended wines.\n\n\n\nBC’S MOST PRESTIGIOUS WINE EVENT \nBC Iconic Reds\, in conjunction with our retail sponsor\, Sutton Place Wine Merchant\, will be holding the 12th annual BC Iconic Reds Wine Tasting Competition on Wednesday\, November 13\, at The Sutton Place Hotel. We are pleased to invite you to judge 18 to 20 of B.C.’s best Bordeaux style red wines including Black Sage Meritage\, Clos du Soleil Estate Reserve\, Clos du Soleil Signature Red\, Fort Berens Red Gold\, Hester Creek The Judge\, Intersection Axiom\, Kettle Valley Old Main Red\, La Stella Espressivo\, Lake Breeze Tempest\, Lariana Cellars 16\, Laughing Stock Portfolio\, Mt. Boucherie Summit\, One Faith Certitude\, Painted Rock Red Icon\, Poplar Grove Legacy\, Road 13 Fifth Element Red\, Siren’s Call Harmonious and Summerhill OM. The wines will be over $1\,000 in value. \nThis is the most prestigious tasting of premium BC red wines ever held. Each year\, at this exclusive tasting\, we seek to discover the best of the best in blended red wines that BC has to offer. Nowhere else will you be able to taste this array of wines at one sitting… and certainly it can never be reproduced at this price. Past attendees know this event is unrivalled. \n \nWHAT’S IT ABOUT? \nWines are divided into two flights and are tasted blind. There will be no food provided before the tasting\, so please do not come on an empty stomach. During the tasting you are provided bread and water for palate cleansing. \nThere is a short break between flights\, during which JoieFarm’s exceptional Quotidien Brut sparkling wine will be poured for a toast to the late John Levine and a selection of specialty cheeses\, charcuterie and accoutrements will be offered as palate refreshments. \nWhile some wine knowledge is an asset\, the results of our previous ten tastings prove you need not be an expert to expertly judge wines. We provide you with our Tasting Guide teaching you how to judge and score wines. \nAt the end of the tasting\, you submit your top five choices and results are tabulated\, after which top finishers are announced. \nOur special guest is John Schreiner\, foremost author and authority on the wines of Canada and author of “Icon”\, for which our tasting may be a cornerstone. \n \n \nOrdering Wine with $20 Event Wine Purchase Credit \nor \nBuying Wine $20 Sutton Place Wine Merchant Voucher \nYou will be given the opportunity at the event to order these special wines in whole cases or to purchase lesser quantities at a later date. Orders for complete cases of wines being poured (6 bottles or 12 bottles depending on the winery’s case format) will be accepted at the event with a $20 credit given for an order of $50 or more. \nIf you do not place an order at the event\, you will receive a $20 voucher redeemable at Sutton Place Wine Merchant on a purchase totalling $50 or more for one or more bottles of the wines poured at the event. \nSome wines are rare and allocations are very small\, so may not be available in sufficient quantities to fill all orders or be in store inventory. If an Event Wine Purchase Credit is used towards the purchase of a wine that is not available\, the purchaser will be given the option of using the credit for other BC Iconic Red wines.

SUMMARY:Fraser Valley Fruit Beer Festival
DESCRIPTION:A new craft beer festival launches this summer in Abbotsford at the Railway District Community Market\, with beers made exclusively with bush fruits and tree fruits. “The festival is much like our Hopwired Festival\, where we pair craft breweries and coffee roasters\, Fruit Beer Festival’s taking on pairing breweries and fruit growers to make juicy beers without artificial flavours and syrups.” says Mike Willis\, of West Craft. “We’re regular attendees of both Abbotsford’s Farm Market and Vancouver’s Riley Park Farm Market and we imagined a beer festival inside of a farmers market – due to liquor laws a beer festival has to be 19+ – so we turn to putting on Fruit Beer Festival to help support local fruit producers while doing something delicious that hasn’t been done in Canada”. West Craft\, the organizer behind Fruit Beer Festival\, is promising an all-inclusive drink commitment with tickets\, live music by Dan Tait and Tiger Moon\, a ton of food vendors with a pop-up farmers market\, and a scoop of ice cream from Banter Ice-cream. Festival organizers approached brewers with the challenge of making original beers using real whole\, pureed\, or juiced fruits without using any of the extracts or flavorings that have contributed to giving fruit beers a bad name \nFeaturing more than twenty-five different beers from over fifteen breweries from the Northwest and beyond\, the Fruit Beer Festival is a celebration of the wonderful variety of flavours that fruits offer and the incredible and unique beers that the brewers can make with them. Festivities will kick off on August 24th at 1:00PM with juicy beer samples available all day until 6:00PM with an affordable shuttle from King George Station and Lougheed Town Station to move people in-and-out of the city so that you can sample without having to worry about driving to the valley. \nAfter entry\, you are invited to taste collaboration beers and fruits from over fifteen craft breweries and farmers\, snack on delicious ice cream from Banter Ice Cream\, sample fruited kombucha from o5 Rare Tea Bar and refresh your palate with the curated palate cleanser bar\, which will feature a selection of more rare and refreshing un-fruited beers. Expect to taste new and unique belgian-style beers\, and american-style beers – alongside cherries\, raspberries\, blueberries\, kiwis and more – from the likes of 33 Brewing Experiment\, Luppolo Brewing Co.\, Field House Brewing\, Four Winds Brewing\, Garden Path Fermentation\, House of Funk Brewing\, Nickel Brook Brewing\, o5 Rare Tea Bar\, Silver Valley Brewing\, Sundown Beer\, Taylight Brewing\, Temporal Artisan Ales\, Twin Sails Brewing\, Wild Ambition Brewing\, and many\, many more. Guests will not experience another 19+ farm market and fruit beer festival like this – it has not been done anywhere else. Early bird tickets go on sale March 23 at 10am. \nFor more information about Fruit Beer Festival or to purchase tickets for the festival\, please visit: www.fruitbeer.ca \n

SUMMARY:Farmhouse Fest 2019
DESCRIPTION:Ticket Update: We’re completely 100% SOLD OUT \nShuttle Update: End of event (approx 530/6pm) return shuttles are sold out. A 4:30pm option has been added. There will be no further later shuttles added. \nhttps://craftbeertours.ca/products/farmhouse-festival-shuttle \nFarmhouse Fest is back for the 5th year at UBC Farm! Celebrating the funky\, the wild\, the sour\, the fruity\, the peppery\, the estery\, the tart\, and the dry. \nThis year’s list of incredible producers is shaping up to be our finest yet\, with world class selections from Canada\, USA\, and Europe. We take extra care to curate the best possible list of breweries and cider makers who are quality focused\, experimental\, and have a track record of producing great beers with a true sense of place and style. \nThe big change this year is a shift to an all inclusive format. All beer and cider tastings are included with your ticket. This will allow you to try more\, enjoy smaller pours\, greater sharing of limited beers\, and less waste. The max legal pour size will still be 4oz in your custom Farmhouse Fest tulip glassware\, however a standard pour will be closer to 2-3oz. Some pours may be capped at a lower amount from bottles\, and you can ask for just a splash of anything without committing to a full pour. \nInclusive does not mean unlimited. Drinking responsibly is still a main priority of our event\, and we will be keeping a close watch on liquor service\, with Serving It Right rules applying just like any previous year. \nMore information including breweries\, ciders\, food options for purchase on site\, and drink list to come via major social channels @FarmhouseFest \nCheck out previous years over at FarmhouseFest.com (links at the bottom) to get an idea of what’s coming\, and some useful FAQ. \nCheers! \n……………………… \nPours will range from 1-4oz as determined by the event. You can get ‘just a splash’ of anything\, some limited beers will be a maximum small pour to help share around. No refunds at any time for tickets. Last call is 545pm.\nFarmhouse Fest can’t guarantee any specific product will be available at any time. All tiicket holders will have access to everything on the list at the start of their session\, however some WILL sell out fast. All vendors reserve the right to hold back product if they so chose.\nPlease drink responsibly and arrange a safe ride home in advance. Food and non-alcoholic drink vendors will be on site. DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE.\nThe event is outdoors and will proceed rain or shine.\n19+ only – no minors or pets allowed. Photo ID required for entry. Serving it Right Rules apply. Intoxicated persons will not be allowed entry to the event. We reserve the right to have security remove unruly or intoxicated persons from the event at our discretion.\nFarmhouse Fest promotes a safe\, enjoyable environment for everyone involved. Harassment & abuse of any kind whether verbal or physical will result in immediate ejection from the festival without refund. Smoking is not permitted on the UBC Farm grounds.
