SUMMARY:Hopwired 2018
DESCRIPTION:Hopwired Festival 2018 begins February 24 2018 at the Croatian Cultural Center in Vancouver\, Canada. \nFeaturing local\, national\, and international craft beer and third-wave coffee. Hopwired encourages partnership between craft beer and coffee roasters to make beverages that are fruity\, flowery\, tangy\, spicey\, nutty\, chocolately\, sweet\, sour\, soft\, mild\, and strong. \nWe have selected some of our favourite breweries and roasters to team up with each other and bring you some of their best offerings. Patrons at the event will be able to taste the beer\, and the coffee that’s been used in that beer alongside their partner brewery. Expect up to 40 vendors with including up to 15 unique collaborations between 15 craft breweries and 15 coffee roasters. With the all-inclusive coffee means all-inclusive espresso poured by world-leader and Vancouver Business Icon ECM (Espresso Coffee Machines) on their Victoria Arduino Black Eagle Gravimetric espresso machine. \nHopwired is focused on coffee and craft beer. We also offer food trucks\, donuts\, and water by H20 Element to give your palate a break so that you can be nourished and enjoy your day. \nExpect live interviews and tastings with brewers and roasters hosted by Aaron from CASCADIAN.BEER. With over 15 years in the broadcast industry in three countries\, Aaron’s podcast stands out from the others and recently ranked as high as #2 in Apple Podcasts for craft beer. His background includes interviewing Paul Hadfield of Spinnakers\, Canada’s first brewpub in Victoria\, to small up and coming breweries like Steel & Oak\, Dageraad\, and Propolis. Aaron recently interviewed industry leaders of a national scale like Charlie Papazian and other leaders in the Brewers Association. \nWe end the night with a special presentation from the Vancouver Coffee Snob. His unique style of writing has been called ‘bold’\, ‘unique’ and ‘worse than my 5 year old’s best efforts”. He vehemently denies that his writing is bold and unique. Expect a coffee fueled energy award show that can only be described as bold and unique. \nStart browsing the list of coffee and beer vendors at www.hopwired.ca starting December 2017. \nCollaborations will start being announced mid-January. Expect new vendors with new beers and coffees\, for the first time in BC and Canada alongside many great local roasters and breweries making unique beers. \nEarly Bird General Admission Tickets are on sale Saturday\, December 16th 2017 at 10am. \nEarly Bird General Admission Tickets are $52 (plus taxes and fees). \nSave money and buy your tickets early by signing up to the Hopwired.ca mailing list.

SUMMARY:Hopscotch Festival Vancouver
DESCRIPTION:The 22nd Annual Hopscotch Festival is back – but in an entirely new way! Canada’s largest celebration of Scotch and other Whiskies\, Craft and Premium Beer\, Craft and Premium Spirits\, Wine and Food has been given a facelift with immense changes being implemented. It took 22 years but Hopscotch is no longer a “corporate-style” public trade show but rather an experience for the “in” that won’t be forgotten. Some of the new changes are: \nMORE BOOTHS/MORE PRODUCTS\nLast year there was about 80 booths\, this year there is over 130! Last year there was less than 300 products\, this year we will have over 400! More selection\, more great beer\, more whisky\, more spirits and so many other additions. \nLOWER TICKET PRICES\nTicket prices have been reduced! From $53 to (starting at $22)\, the idea for 2017 was to make Hopscotch the BEST night out\, for a affordable price. \nCATEGORIZES SECTIONS\nUnlike last year and years prior\, the booths at Hopscotch will be in categories. The BC Craft Pavilion\, Beers From Around The World\, Whisky Corner\, The Rose Garden (wine)\, Spirits Of The Globe and Craft Cocktails are some of the different areas within the hall this year. If you want beer\, the beer will be in the beer section. Same with the whisky! Each area will be “vibed” differently\, to really accent the theme of the respective product being showcased. \nWHISKY CORNER\nAfter receiving feedback from our guests that they would love all of the exhibited whisky in one area\, we have created Whisky Corner; An event within an event. Over 120 whiskies will be displayed within this new showcase at Hopscotch. From Single Malt Scotch\, to Blends\, from Irish to Japanese\, from Bourbons to Ryes and everything else – it will all be at Hopscotch this year. \nLOCAL: BC CRAFT BEER PAVILION PRESENTED BY THE BC CRAFT BREWERS GUILD\nNew for the very first time in Hopscotch Festival history\, we will showcase all of the amazing BC Craft beers in the same area. Sponsored by the BC Craft Brewers Guild\, LOCAL will be showcase so many of the amazing breweries producing delicious craft beer in BC. This will offer an opportunity for guests to really see (AND TASTE) the magic that is BC Craft. \nLOCAL: BC CRAFT SPIRITS\nJust like the note above\, there will also be a separate section specifically showcasing the amazing craft and small batch spirits being produced in BC. \nCRAFT COCKTAIL SHOWCASE\nPresented By Hendrick’s Gin and Monkey Shoulder Whisky\, the Craft Cocktail Showcase will not only offer different specialty cocktails created in partnership with some of the best mixologists within Vancouver\, but as well\, will showcase the “Hendrick’s Cocktail Configurator”\, a life size cocktail art piece that creates the perfect Negroni as well as Monkey Shoulder’s “Hello Monkey Trolley” which will mix the concept of a great cocktail with vibes of iconic 80s and 90s Hip Hop. \nRESTAURANT ROW\nLikely our biggest piece of feedback every year is more food. Well we heard you. This year will are bringing in celebrity chefs and premium restaurants from around the city including The Pawn Shop\, Steel Toad\, La Pentola\, and others. This will be a food showcase unlike any year prior. \nTHE WINE GARDEN\nWe have brought in a select amount of wineries to showcase some delicious wine\, both international and domestic. The idea behind this new additiona was that pretty much everybody likes wine! Although this isn’t a wine show\, there are people attending Hopscotch that may want to enjoy some vino over dinner\, or others who are attending to be with friends who may not drink beer or spirits. Now there is something for everyone! We just launched a smaller version of this activation in Kelowna and it was a hit! \nMUSIC LOUNGE\nWe will have several bands playing – stay tuned for a full line-up. \nNEW AESTHETICS\nWe just finished our new concept at Hopscotch Kelowna and the positive feedback was immense. New softer lighting\, large light globes\, signage at every booth\, tall drape to hide some of the “aesethically challenged” areas of the venue – Hopscotch will look completely different this year. The PNE Forum will be completely transformed with custom lighting\, signage\, special drapes – when you walk into The Forum\, you won’t even recognize it! \nDIGITAL PLATFORM: THE APP\nInstead of wasting hundreds of thousands of sheets of paper with our connoisseur booklet\, the show now uses a digital platform via the Hopscotch App. Visit www.hopscotchfestival.com/app to download our new app!

SUMMARY:The Railway Stage & Beer Café Hosting a Fuggles & Warlock Cask Night
DESCRIPTION:  \nWhen The Railway Stage & Beer Café was renovated last winter\, pride of place was given to a shiny new beer system which included four traditional beer engines to pour casks. Since then\, the Railway has offered a constantly-evolving range of draft beers alongside some of the most creative cask creations from local breweries. \n \nOn October 24th. The Railway Stage & Beer Café will team up with Fuggles & Warlock\, one of the regions quirkiest and most creative breweries\, for a special Cask Night. Three casks will be tapped and poured on the night\, alongside a selection of other favourite beers.\nTwo casks of Fuggles Gold Medal winning Milo Stout are going to be poured\, likely for the first and last time in Vancouver. Those who didn’t grow up in Australia or New Zealand may not know about Milo\, a malt-chocolate drink powder that’s a childhood staple in the Southern Hemisphere. The Milo Stout was immensely popular when it was poured at the Whistler Beer Festival\, taking home best of show. Stout lovers won’t want to miss this. \nThe Railway will also be pouring a cask of Fuggles & Warlock Takumi Saskatoon Berry Sour which has been casked with sour cherries for an extra burst of mouth-tingling of tart fruitiness. These two beers won’t be the only Fuggles & Warlock offerings on the night\, as three others will be pouring form the draft lines: Kiwami Plum Sour Ale\, Shiori Peach Sour Ale\, and Strawberry Wit. \nQuantities of the cask ales are strictly limited and the casks will begin pouring at 5pm on the 24th. For more information on The Railway Stage & Beer Café\, including upcoming live music schedules\, visit www.donnellygroup.ca.
