SUMMARY:The office launch of ROASTER CENTRAL on Septmeber 13 at Espresstec
DESCRIPTION:ATTENTION COFFEE LOVERS! \nROASTER CENTRAL\, Vancouver’s very first coffee tasting centre\, is set to launch on September 13 th at Espressotec on Clark\nDrive. Here they offer the chance for coffee-drinkers of every\ntype to brew and taste a full spectrum of coffees by donation at the customer’s discretion. Featuring up\nto 40 different coffees freshly-roasted by roasters from local regions and beyond\, it’s the ultimate\ncoffee-tasting destination! \nThe impressive bank of Baratza Sette 270Wi grinders in the brand new flight centre at Espressotec’s\nshowroom is a sight unlike any other in this coffee-loving city. Lined up along a counter beneath shelves\nof brightly-packaged coffee\, each grinder will feature a different coffee that visitors can grind and brew\ninto tasting flights. In this way\, coffee lovers can transport their taste buds to global coffee origins like\nEthiopia\, Peru\, Indonesia\, etc. and explore a wide range of flavour profiles (Bright / Citrus\, Fruit-\nForward\, Rich / Sweet\, Earth / Smoke\, etc.) — all in one place\, for only the cost of a donation to Lookout\nSociety. \n“The coffee-tasting experience can be as complex and satisfying as that of wine or scotch\,” explains Reg\nJames\, owner of Espressotec. “But not everyone wants to dive in blindly and buy a full bag — or even a\ncup — of an unfamiliar coffee. Roaster Central provides an easy way for those who are new to specialty\ncoffee to try some really interesting coffees without that upfront cost.” \nVisitors will also learn to brew coffee using a pour over method that encourages a full sensory\nexperience\, guided by knowledgeable Espressotec staff. Coffee featured at Roaster Central will be\navailable for purchase in-store and on Espressotec’s online store. The aim is to showcase a variety of the\ntalented specialty coffee roasters that are pushing the local\, national and global coffee industry forward.\nAmong the participating roasters so far are Pallet (Vancouver)\, Drumroaster (Cobble Hill)\, Chronicle\n(Calgary)\, Smoking Gun (Mission)\, Contrabean (Kitchener)\, East Van Roasters (Vancouver)\, Notch (Delta)\,\nCaffé D’arte (Seattle)\, Mogiana (Richmond) and many more. \nThe official launch on Thursday\, September 13 th will begin at 4pm at Espressotec with refreshments\, a\nroaster meet-and-greet\, photo opportunities\, door prizes\, and (of course) all the coffee you can drink.

SUMMARY:Code Red: Hasbean Coffeology Tasting
DESCRIPTION:Join us at Archive at Revolver for this rare opportunity to experience the book\, Coffeeography\, through a selection of coffees.\nCoffeeography is written by Steve Leighton\, founder of Hasbean\, Stafford\, UK. The book offers a comprehensive look into the histories and stories of over 40 coffee producers across 11 countries that Steve has worked with in his extensive travels to origin.\nOn Sunday\, March 25 we will taste through a curated set of coffees featured in the book. Follow along in your own book by placing your order today.  We will share a discussion about the coffee’s story and how these factors play a role in the way the coffee tastes. \nHasbean is a global pioneer in the specialty coffee industry. They have led the way in establishing effective models of responsible coffee sourcing and industry leadership. Most recently\, one of their wholesale manager\, Dale Harris\, became the 2017 World Barista Champion last November. The relationship Steve established with a producer in El Salvador resulted in a special coffee that Dale used to win the WBC.\n\nTickets include:\n– tasting of 12 brewed coffees\n– 2 coffee samples \n– option to purchase your favourite bag of retail \n– option to take the book home ($40\, no additional shipping) \n\n\n\nFAQs\n What can I bring into the event?\nThere’s no need to bring anything! While normally our Coffee Potluck tastings allow for coffee sharing\, this curated event will feature only Hasbean coffee supplied by us. \nWhat’s the refund policy?\nWe will not be accepting refunds on tickets. \nDo I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?\nNope! \nIs my registration fee or ticket transferrable?\nAbsolutely. If you can’t make it for any reason\, gift the tasting experience to someone else!

With the all-inclusive coffee means all-inclusive espresso poured by world-leader and Vancouver Business Icon ECM (Espresso Coffee Machines) on their Victoria Arduino Black Eagle Gravimetric espresso machine. \nHopwired is focused on coffee and craft beer. We also offer food trucks\, donuts\, and water by H20 Element to give your palate a break so that you can be nourished and enjoy your day. \nExpect live interviews and tastings with brewers and roasters hosted by Aaron from CASCADIAN.BEER. With over 15 years in the broadcast industry in three countries\, Aaron’s podcast stands out from the others and recently ranked as high as #2 in Apple Podcasts for craft beer. His background includes interviewing Paul Hadfield of Spinnakers\, Canada’s first brewpub in Victoria\, to small up and coming breweries like Steel & Oak\, Dageraad\, and Propolis. Aaron recently interviewed industry leaders of a national scale like Charlie Papazian and other leaders in the Brewers Association. \nWe end the night with a special presentation from the Vancouver Coffee Snob. His unique style of writing has been called ‘bold’\, ‘unique’ and ‘worse than my 5 year old’s best efforts”. He vehemently denies that his writing is bold and unique. Expect a coffee fueled energy award show that can only be described as bold and unique. \nStart browsing the list of coffee and beer vendors at www.hopwired.ca starting December 2017. \nCollaborations will start being announced mid-January. Expect new vendors with new beers and coffees\, for the first time in BC and Canada alongside many great local roasters and breweries making unique beers. \nEarly Bird General Admission Tickets are on sale Saturday\, December 16th 2017 at 10am. \nEarly Bird General Admission Tickets are $52 (plus taxes and fees). \nSave money and buy your tickets early by signing up to the Hopwired.ca mailing list.
