SUMMARY:Beetbox celebrates Earth Day with a charitable initiative and new vegan Quesabirria tacos (April 20 - 26)
DESCRIPTION:Beginning today\, April 20 and continuing until April 26\, Chef Bryan Satterford is offering Vegan Quesabirria Tacos featuring braised oyster mushrooms\, Mexican chiles and jalapeño-studded ‘cheeze’ served with spicy mushroom consommé for dipping for $9.50. Taco lovers can spice it up further by adding a side of Beetbox’s house-made hot sauce from its line of ‘Beetbox Basics’ sauces\, dressings and condiments for $1.  \n\n\n\nIn honour of Earth Day this Thursday\, April 22\, Beetbox will donate one dollar from every CrispyChick-Un Sandwich sold to help low-income families from around the Lower Mainland send their children to camps organized by the Saplings Outdoor Program — a forest school that connects children with the natural world\, allows them to explore the outdoors and discover a deep sense of wonder and love for learning. If people want to leave an extra donation\, Beetbox will match it as well! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAt Beetbox\, every day is focused on earth-friendly initiatives — since its inception\, its core values have been focused on minimizing the impact the restaurant has on the environment by being as carbon-neutral as possible\, reducing food waste and using almost entirely compostable materials for its packaging in an effort to embrace the changes people are making in the ways they produce\, prepare and consume food.

SUMMARY:A Very Vegan Thanksgiving
DESCRIPTION:A Very Vegan Thanksgiving \nPresented by Vancouver Vegan Resource Centre\, The Juice Truck + Little Mountain Shop\n\n_ _ _\n\nFriday October 5\, 20186:30PM to 10:00PM\nDoors at 6:30PM\nFirst course at 7:00PM\n_ _ _ \nFeaturing chefs:\nAlina Bobby (The Juice Truck)\nDee Dimla (Meet) \nKaren McAthy (Blue Heron Creamery)\n+ more to be announcedHighlighting: \n\nFife Bakery\nHoochy Booch\n\n_ _ _\n\n\nJoin us for a vegan version of the classic Thanksgiving meal. We have gathered some of the top vegan chefs in Vancouver\, to offer a 4-course-meal\, with new takes and creative twists on your holiday favourites. Local producers\, ingredients\, and flavours will be highlighted\, to redefine tradition and how we give thanks: by keeping animals in our hearts only\, and off our plates. A portion of proceeds from this event will support Gertie the turkey\, at Home for Hooves Sanctuary on Vancouver Island. \n\nGertie was being raised\, along with several other turkeys\, for Thanksgiving dinner. On one day at some point in the night she got on top of a hay rack\, her foot got stuck and she fell. She hung there all night until a girl\, who boards her horse on the farm\, saw her hanging from the rack the following day. Her leg was partially severed and she suffered a compound fracture. The girls family tried to split and cast her leg but there was too much damage and due to lack of blood flow to the area her leg died and needed to be amputated at the knee. Gertie came to us because she would have likely died due to cramped conditions and difficulty obtaining food and water due to her mobility issues. Once Gertie’s leg is healed she will be fitted with a prosthetic or special mobility chair.\n\nPartial proceeds from this event will support Gertie’s prosthetic or mobility chair. \n\n_ _ _ \n\n$60 per guest. \n\nIncludes:– 4 vegan courses \n– One beverage courtesy of The Juice Truck\n– Donation to Gertie’s prosthetic/mobility fund \n– Gift bag featuring Vegan Pop-Up Vendors \n\n_ _ _
