SUMMARY:Italian Day on the Drive 2019
DESCRIPTION:Held annually on the second Sunday of June and identified in the City of Vancouver’s list of Official Observances and Celebrations under June’s Italian Heritage Month umbrella\, Italian Day on The Drive is a vibrant cultural street festival celebrating Italian culture\, heritage and community. The event includes over 120 street participants\, comprised of partners\, vendors\, community organizations – and an estimated 300\,000 attendees of all ages and cultures. The festival is held on Commercial Drive (The Drive)\, home to Little Italy\, where the street is transformed into a lively 14 block festa. Since Italian Day’s return in 2010\, the event today represents the largest one-day cultural street festival in Vancouver. A festive community embrace\, The Drive comes alive in green\, white and red with piazza-style animated zones\, live music\, food vendors\, patios\, lifestyle attractions\, family fun activities and more. \nItalian Day 2019 Theme: Comunità \nItalian Day on The Drive is a cultural street festival celebrating Italian culture\, heritage and community\, or otherwise translated in Italian as Comunita\, which is this year’s centrepiece theme. For the Italian Day Festival Society\, the significance of Comunità permeates several levels of Italian Day’s purpose and roots: the importance of community in the Italian culture and heritage; the embrace Italian Day creates with people of all cultures and ages in the form of a festive community celebration; and the value and common ground we can find when coming together to help make a positive difference in our community. \nFor several years\, the Italian Day Festival Society has been supporting at-risk youth by way of annual donations to film and theatre programs at Templeton Secondary School in East Vancouver. In total\, we have contributed $7\,000 between 2014 to 2018. This year\, our Comunità theme opens the door wider to demonstrate the value and power community has to make things happen and help others. Our youth is our future\, and many teens today face a heightened element of adversity in their lives\, who without leadership and support are increasingly at risk. The belief and efforts behind the umbrella of two youth programs at Templeton Secondary aim to address this issue and are to be commended: East End Boys Club and Girls Group\, respectively run by mentors and teachers\, Jimmy Crescenzo and Tanya Zambrano. In recognition of this commitment and to help meet 2019 program initiatives\, as part of this year’s Italian Day event fundraising\, we seek to raise an additional $20\,000 to donate to the East End Boys Club and Girls Group via the aid of our Italian Day sponsors and community support. Together we can make a difference! \nFor more on Youth Programs and their commitment at work\,\nplease visit our website here: \nhttp://www.italianday.ca/project/support-at-risk-youth/ \nJoin us for Italian Day 2019 and celebrate community – Italian style! \nMangia Bene\, Ridi Spesso\, Ama Molto\nEat well\, Laugh often\, Love in Abundance

SUMMARY:Farmhouse Fest 2019
DESCRIPTION:Ticket Update: We’re completely 100% SOLD OUT \nShuttle Update: End of event (approx 530/6pm) return shuttles are sold out. A 4:30pm option has been added. There will be no further later shuttles added. \nhttps://craftbeertours.ca/products/farmhouse-festival-shuttle \nFarmhouse Fest is back for the 5th year at UBC Farm! Celebrating the funky\, the wild\, the sour\, the fruity\, the peppery\, the estery\, the tart\, and the dry. \nThis year’s list of incredible producers is shaping up to be our finest yet\, with world class selections from Canada\, USA\, and Europe. We take extra care to curate the best possible list of breweries and cider makers who are quality focused\, experimental\, and have a track record of producing great beers with a true sense of place and style. \nThe big change this year is a shift to an all inclusive format. All beer and cider tastings are included with your ticket. This will allow you to try more\, enjoy smaller pours\, greater sharing of limited beers\, and less waste. The max legal pour size will still be 4oz in your custom Farmhouse Fest tulip glassware\, however a standard pour will be closer to 2-3oz. Some pours may be capped at a lower amount from bottles\, and you can ask for just a splash of anything without committing to a full pour. \nInclusive does not mean unlimited. Drinking responsibly is still a main priority of our event\, and we will be keeping a close watch on liquor service\, with Serving It Right rules applying just like any previous year. \nMore information including breweries\, ciders\, food options for purchase on site\, and drink list to come via major social channels @FarmhouseFest \nCheck out previous years over at FarmhouseFest.com (links at the bottom) to get an idea of what’s coming\, and some useful FAQ. \nCheers! \n……………………… \nPours will range from 1-4oz as determined by the event. You can get ‘just a splash’ of anything\, some limited beers will be a maximum small pour to help share around. No refunds at any time for tickets. Last call is 545pm.\nFarmhouse Fest can’t guarantee any specific product will be available at any time. All tiicket holders will have access to everything on the list at the start of their session\, however some WILL sell out fast. All vendors reserve the right to hold back product if they so chose.\nPlease drink responsibly and arrange a safe ride home in advance. Food and non-alcoholic drink vendors will be on site. DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE.\nThe event is outdoors and will proceed rain or shine.\n19+ only – no minors or pets allowed. Photo ID required for entry. Serving it Right Rules apply. Intoxicated persons will not be allowed entry to the event. We reserve the right to have security remove unruly or intoxicated persons from the event at our discretion.\nFarmhouse Fest promotes a safe\, enjoyable environment for everyone involved.
