Talking with another person\, communicating with a mind outside of your own mind puts you in touch with the part of your Self that is bigger than your mind\, larger than your thoughts. That’s because the act of CONNECTING with another pulls you out of your ongoing internal dialogue and into an external one. \n\n\n\n\n\nIn an external dialogue\, another person can bring you fresh energy\, provide a different perspective. They can come to the subject with a clear head\, free of the self judgement through which you are looking at everything. They see YOU as you really are\, proving the irony that sometimes you have to get out of yourself to get into yourself. Sometimes you have to stop looking at yourself to see yourself.”\n\n\n\n\n\n-Neale Donald Walsh\, When Everything Changes\, Change Everything.

SUMMARY:Celebrate Old Fashioned Week at Granville Room and Clough Club (November 2 - 11)
DESCRIPTION:This November\, hundreds of cocktail bars around the world will join together to celebrate the World’s most popular craft cocktail during the inaugural Old Fashioned Week. Donnelly Group is pleased to be joining this event by featuring a special menu of Old Fashioned cocktails at Clough Club and Granville Room throughout the 10 days of the festival. \nFirst made over two centuries ago\, the core elements of the Old Fashioned recipe—spirits\, bitters\, sugar\, and water have remained constant to this day. Within that structure\, endless variations of the Old Fashioned have been offered down the years\, from gin and brandy to the more familiar bourbon or rye whiskey cocktails. \nMany see the Old Fashioned as an ultimate test of a bartender’s craft\, requiring patience\, precision\, and care to ensure that the drink’s simple elements are blended into a balanced cocktail. Developing a signature Old Fashioned recipe is an essential part of any bartender’s repertoire. \nold fashioned week \nTo celebrate the Old Fashioned in all its variations\, Donnelly Group will offer a feature cocktail menu with four inspired interpretations of the traditional recipe. The menu\, created by Bar Director Trevor Kallies\, explores the Old Fashioned using a range of different spirits\, with recipes fine-tuned to enhance each one. The popular Rye Whiskey recipe is expressed using Lot 40\, while versions using Olmeca Altos Tequila\, Monkey Shoulder blended Scotch\, and Havana Club 7 Yr. Rum offers a range of delicious options. SUMMARY:The Chosen Food: Delights from the Danube: Hungarian Jewish Cuisine
DESCRIPTION:The Jewish Museum and Archives of BC is pleased to present The Chosen Food\, a series of dinners showcasing a regional style of Jewish cuisine.\nFor our October dinner\, Judy Stoffman will share the traditional recipes her family brought with them from Hungary. Join us for this very special evening.\nJews have lived in Hungary since Medieval times\, and enjoyed a particularly liberal period under the Austro-Hungarian empire\, when they were given the right to own land\, among other advances. Such was their prosperity and confidence that in 1859\, the Jews of Budapest built the grandest synagogue in Europe\, the Dohany Temple\, of which the Central Synagogue in New York is a copy.  Hungarian Jewish food illustrates the extent to which Jews adopted Magyar culture. It takes the classic paprika-flavoured dishes of the Hungarian kitchen and simply leaves the sour cream out of the meat dishes.  \nBudapest-born journalist Judy Stoffman will be our guide on October 29 to Hungarian Jewish favourites including Rantott Csirke\, Uborka Salata\,and Flodni\, the latter a sumptuous dessert filled with walnuts\, chocolate and poppy seeds.\nThis event is presented in partnership with the Louis Brier Jewish Aged Foundation.\nDinner will be prepared by Chef Lior Ben-Yehuda\n\nWHAT YOU CAN EXPECT:\n\nA full meal of traditional Hungarian Jewish dishes\nStories about the family history behind each dish\nGreat conversation\nRecipes to try at home\nAll food is kosher-style\, but not certified kosher\n\n\nThe Chosen Food Supper Club occurs over ten Sundays between April and October\, 2017. It is part of the JMABC 2017 public programming series Feeding Community\, celebrating the important role of food in maintaining Jewish tradition and history through generations of BC Jews. Other components of Feeding Community include the podcast The Kitchen Stories\, and the four-part event series Nourishing Tradition\, offered in collaboration with the Jewish Seniors Alliance. Further information about these and other JMABC programs can be found at the JMABC website\, jewishmuseum.ca\nFeeding Community is made possible through the support of Instafund\, the Jewish Federation of Greater Vancouver\, the Jewish Community Foundation\, and the Governments of Canada\, British Columbia\, and Vancouver. Our generous sponsors include Superstore\, Legacy Liquor Store\, Kafka’s Coffee and Tea\, and the Peretz Centre for Secular Judaism.

SUMMARY:The Railway Stage & Beer Café Hosting a Fuggles & Warlock Cask Night
DESCRIPTION:  \nWhen The Railway Stage & Beer Café was renovated last winter\, pride of place was given to a shiny new beer system which included four traditional beer engines to pour casks. Since then\, the Railway has offered a constantly-evolving range of draft beers alongside some of the most creative cask creations from local breweries. \n \nOn October 24th. The Railway Stage & Beer Café will team up with Fuggles & Warlock\, one of the regions quirkiest and most creative breweries\, for a special Cask Night. Three casks will be tapped and poured on the night\, alongside a selection of other favourite beers.\nTwo casks of Fuggles Gold Medal winning Milo Stout are going to be poured\, likely for the first and last time in Vancouver. Those who didn’t grow up in Australia or New Zealand may not know about Milo\, a malt-chocolate drink powder that’s a childhood staple in the Southern Hemisphere. The Milo Stout was immensely popular when it was poured at the Whistler Beer Festival\, taking home best of show. Stout lovers won’t want to miss this. \nThe Railway will also be pouring a cask of Fuggles & Warlock Takumi Saskatoon Berry Sour which has been casked with sour cherries for an extra burst of mouth-tingling of tart fruitiness. These two beers won’t be the only Fuggles & Warlock offerings on the night\, as three others will be pouring form the draft lines: Kiwami Plum Sour Ale\, Shiori Peach Sour Ale\, and Strawberry Wit. \nQuantities of the cask ales are strictly limited and the casks will begin pouring at 5pm on the 24th. For more information on The Railway Stage & Beer Café\, including upcoming live music schedules\, visit www.donnellygroup.ca.
