SUMMARY:2nd Annual Dine Strathcona November 18 - 30 featuring 17 restaurants\, cafes & breweries
DESCRIPTION:Strathcona’s hospitality community will come together this month to showcase the neighbourhood’s vibrant culinary scene while raising money to provide support for vulnerable individuals in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside (DTES) during the second annual Dine Strathcona initiative\, taking place November 18 to 30. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFirst launched in 2019 by the Strathcona Business Improvement Association (SBIA) as ‘Dine Railtown’\, the neighbourhood initiative has now expanded to encompass restaurants\, cafés\, and breweries across the larger Strathcona area. Dine Strathcona will see participating dining establishments such as Ask For Luigi\, Dosanko\, and The Garden offer a feature dish throughout the two-week event period\, with $1 for each dish ordered donated to WISH Drop-In Centre. \n\n\n\nFor almost 40 years\, WISH Drop-In Centre has been a refuge and an essential point of contact for street-based sex workers who have been made vulnerable due to poverty\, homelessness\, trauma\, violence\, stigma\, and a lack of access to supports and opportunities. It is the largest organization in Canada supporting sex workers and the only drop-in centre in the region supporting them 365 nights a year. Money raised during Dine Strathcona will help fund the critical services and resources WISH provides\, including its 24-hour drop-in centre where they serve over 9\,000 meals a month\, its emergency shelter\, Mobile Access Project Van\, and WISH’s capacity building programs. \n\n\n\n“Small businesses and organizations like the WISH Drop-In Centre are at the heart of this neighbourhood and it’s more critical now than ever to show our support for them\,” says Theodora Lamb\, Executive Director of the SBIA. “Dine Strathcona allows residents and visitors alike to do just that — make a positive impact in the lives of those who live and work in the district while also enjoying safe dining experiences at the many incredible cafés\, restaurants and small businesses that call Strathcona home.”Participating locations have implemented extensive safety and distancing measures to keep their customers safe. Many of the feature dishes are also available for take-out and delivery for those who wish to support Dine Strathcona from the comfort of home. \n\n\n\nThis year’s Dine Strathcona participating restaurants\, cafes\, and breweries and featured dishes are as follows:— RESTAURANTS — \n\n\n\nAsk for LuigiFried Cauliflower and Chickpeas  $15fried cauliflower and chickpeas with saffron aioli\, mint\, lemon\, parmesan \n\n\n\nAxum Ethiopian RestaurantVegetarian Combo  $15a combination of yellow split peas\, red lentils\, cabbage & carrot and spinach simmered in a mild and spicy sauce \n\n\n\nDosankoWild Mushroom Doria  $20wild mushrooms (chanterelle and lobster)\, roasted garlic white sauce\, onion\, rice \n\n\n\nLanaLou’s RestaurantCheeseburger & Fries (Veggie Option Available)  $13all-beef patty or veggie patty (mushroom swiss) topped with triple cheddar\,  spinach\, tomato\, garlic mayo on a warm toasted brioche bun and served with hand-cut fries. \n\n\n\nThe Belgard KitchenWagyu Bavette Steak  $26barley koji marinade\, tallow-roasted fingerling potatoes\, black garlic GF\, DF \n\n\n\nThe GardenMushroom Bowl  $12mushrooms\, peas\, wild rice\, brown rice\, black kale\, pickled beets\, pickled carrots\, pickled mushrooms\, pumpkin seedsV\, GF \n\n\n\nVV Tapas LoungeWarm Cauliflower Dip  $13cashews\, olives\, bread \n\n\n\n— CAFÉS — \n\n\n\nHarken CoffeeJapanese Curry  13Japanese sweet curry & koshihikari rice\, puffed rice topping\, lucky buddha pickles (daikon radish)V \n\n\n\nHoliDrink CafePegobo Noodle and HoliDrink HoliEH Spicy Ginger  $25ramen noodle soup with prawn egg garlic onion and bok choy served with a spicy ginger drink \n\n\n\nPallet Coffee RoastersGrilled Cheese + any Regular-sized Beverage  $10house made grilled cheese (vegetarian or meat option available) with any regular-sized specialty beverage \n\n\n\nRailtown CafeThe Winter Kale  $12.75baby kale\, black rice\, shaved apple\, roasted yams\, red onion\, feta\, dried cranberries\, Egyptian dukkah\, aged sherry vinaigrette \n\n\n\nThe Uncommon CafeGreen Cheese & Yam Pizza!  $11roasted yam rounds\, marinara\, jalapeño & herbed ricotta \n\n\n\n— BREWERIES — \n\n\n\nContainer BrewingRarebit  $8 (small)\, $14 (large)a Welsh dish consisting of a Bechamel sauce served over slices of toasted bread\, with roasted oyster mushrooms and sharp cheddar cheese \n\n\n\nHastings Mill Brewing CompanyChicken Tacos  $10trio of seasoned chicken tacos with shredded lettuce\, diced tomato\, fresh cilantro and pico de gallo \n\n\n\nLuppolo Brewing CompanyFunghi Pizza  $17tomato sauce\, fior di latte\, mushroom\, truffle oil\, goat cheese \n\n\n\nStrathcona Beer CompanyMargherita Pizza  $17tomato sauce\, mozzarella\, fior de latte\, extra virgin olive oil\, basil\, Grana Padano \n\n\n\nSuperflux Beer CompanyRoasted Cabbage with Beef and Duck Bolognese  $17roasted cabbage served with organic beef & duck Bolognese and black vinegar \n\n\n\n For the latest news about the Strathcona Business Improvement Association or the Dine Strathcona initiative\, go to strathconabia.com\, become a fan of /StrathconaBIA on Facebook and follow @StrathconaBIA on Twitter and @madeinstrathcona on Instagram

SUMMARY:Meet & Greet with Mijune Pak at Popina Cantina
DESCRIPTION:Food Network personality Mijune Pak  will be hosting a meet & greet at Popina Cantina on November 7 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (1650 Johnston St\, Vancouver\, BC) \n\n\n\nMijune is back with another duo of creative chocolates with the #MijuneXChezChristophe collaboration. \n\n\n\nStarting Tuesday\, October 20\, customers can enjoy her Maple Syrup French Toast chocolate bar and Neapolitan Baked Alaska Snowball developed together with Christophe Bonzon\, by visiting Chez Christophe at their Burnaby\, BC store and online (https://chez-christophe.ca/). \n\n\n\nFollow Mijune on Instagram for an exclusive scoop on how you can win a private meet and greet and tasting with the Food Network Canada personality and the Chez Christophe team.  \n\n\n\nThe Maple Syrup French Toast chocolate bar is made from a custom blend of 34% white chocolate and 35% caramelized white chocolate\, maple syrup\, a crispy thin French toast cookie (langue-de-chat biscuit)\, and a touch of salt ($11.95). \n\n\n\n“Appreciating home meant celebrating home. With all the global and social issues happening this year\, it makes me even more proud to call Canada home.” Speaking of her Maple Syrup French Toast chocolate bar Mijune says\, “I want to celebrate my country and one of our most prized ingredients\, maple syrup. French toast is also nostalgic and something I grew up with.  “ \n\n\n\nThe Neapolitan Baked Alaska Snowball is also a concept derived from childhood memories. It consists of a double layered shell made from 35% milk chocolate\, which is then coated in another layer of vanilla bean and white chocolate. Inside the snowball are two clusters made from freeze dried strawberries and crispy feuilletine (one coated in ruby pink chocolate and the other in dark chocolate)\, dark chocolate covered marshmallows and Neapolitan crispy pearls (chocolate\, vanilla and strawberry) ($18.95). \n\n\n\nThe “snowball” name was fitting coming into the colder weather\, and it’s also meant to be smashed. See the snowball smash https://www.mijunepak.com/pages/shop  (or scanning the QR code above) Another way to enjoy it is pouring hot milk over it for a cup of hot chocolate.

SUMMARY:Meet & Greet with Mijune Pak at Chez Christophe
DESCRIPTION:Food Network personality Mijune Pak  will be hosting a meet & greet at Chez Christophe on Saturday October 31 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for a special socially distanced meet and greet. (4717 Hastings St\, Burnaby\, BC) \n\n\n\nMijune is back with another duo of creative chocolates with the #MijuneXChezChristophe collaboration.
