Canada 150 : Celebration of the Senses

The Société de dévelopement de la Colombie Britannique (SDECB) and UBC Farm – Centre for Sustainable Food Systems are proud to host their Canada 150 Celebration of the Senses event.
Come and join us on Saturday, September 16 from 12.00 p.m
to discover the rich diversity of our region and culture through a series of activities.

COME, LEARN, TASTE and ENJOY!

Program of the day:

12.00 p.m: Kick off of the event with the opening ceremony (music and introduction)

1.00 p.m: A presentation of the UBC Farm’s Sustainable system: understand their unique concept.

1.30 p.m: A culinary experience with Salmon n’ Bannock Bistro chef who will introduce you to the traditional indigenous cuisine!

1.30 p.m: Taste some of our BC wines, supported by Liberty Wine Merchants Granville Island

3.30 p.m: The historian Jean Barman will give a talk about her book “French Canadians Furs, and Indigenous women”. (Learn more: http://bit.ly/2veF40A)

Throughout the day:

-Test your knowledge in French with activities offered by Société francophone de Maillardville and their program
Flaunt Your Frenchness

-Have fun at the kids’ corner with creative activities, face painting and more…

-Get the chance to discover the special card game limited edition “Celebration of the Senses” for Canada 150.

-Enjoy the lovely music of our live band Farmer The Band throughout the afternoon. Listen to some of their tunes on their website www.farmertheband.com

-Discover interesting books with UBC Press

-Admire our local artists/artisans presenting their pieces
