March 7, 2021 @ 3:30 pm

A series of mini-seminars featuring Leading Ladies in their fields.

Amber Bruce (Keefer Bar & Yard) and Sabrine Dhaliwal (The Chickadee Room in Juke) have joined forces to kick off International Women’s Week on March 7th with a series of four savvy virtual info sessions. This year’s theme of ‘Choose to Challenge’ the duo have lined up fitness, finance, food and beverage events led by expert women in the respective field. The sessions will be less than an hour in length and registration is by donation with proceeds going to charity partner Downtown Eastside Women’s Center.

Each session will be by donation with a suggested donation of $20 per session.

The day will start off at 11am with a sweat session and nutrition break down with local boxers and personal trainers Jaime Ward-Yassin (Hero Athletics) and Jana Finkbiner (Seconds Out). In 45 minutes, these two ladies will motivate us through a 20 minute workout followed by a breakdown of nutrition on the go, helping us fuel our bodies for our busy days.

Sharpen your financial literacy at noon with a ‘Stock-Tails’ session. Karen Law, former investment advisor, economic instructor and co-author of upcoming book ‘Money Is Not Scary (Unless You Think It Is), breaks down stocks and trading into bite-size pieces, giving you the knowledge to make the best choice for your future. Karen is a firm believer that financial mastery is a vital component in empowerment and independence.

Step into the kitchen with Asha Wheeldon, founder of Kula Kitchen, where she creates Afrocentric plant-based foods that are rich in flavour, nutritious, and satisfying. During the beginnings of Covid 19 in Vancouver, they expanded their online offerings to include local businesses who offer plant-based options centered on BIPOC food producers. Join her for a 45 minute cooking class showcasing one of her incredible Afrocentric plant-based recipes. Let’s Kula!

To wrap up the sessions, it’s Witchy Women’s Happy Hour showcasing how to make delicious cocktails at home using Boozewitch Shrubs. Amber Bruce & Sabrine Dhaliwal have partnered with Kelly Ann Woods from Boozewitch to showcase the versatility of drinking vinegars. Pick up your bar tools, favourite spirit and let these Witchy Ladies lift your spirits with easy to follow cocktail recipes.

After a long and inspiring day of seminars, don’t forget join us at Chicakdee, for some Juke, Lillet Spritzes and incredible 80s’s ladies playlists.
