June, the Highly Anticipated Vancouver Restaurant Sets Opening Date

One of Vancouver’s most anticipated new dining destinations, June, is set to open its doors this April in Cambie Village. Housed in the former Biercraft space, June is a French-inspired West Coast brasserie from the acclaimed team behind Vancouver’s award-winning Keefer Bar.

Spanning 4,500 square feet, June features an upstairs dining room with seating for 100 guests. An additional 35 seats will be available in the downstairs bar area, which is expected to open later, along with three planned patios.

A Vision of Warm Hospitality and Immersive Dining

Co-proprietors Cam Watt and Keenan Hood describe June as a neighborhood brasserie designed for lingering and socializing. “June is our vision of a neighborhood brasserie that offers both warm hospitality and a truly immersive experience, from dinner to late night,” they shared in an April 3 media release. “We want people to settle in, stay a while, and enjoy great company in a space unlike any other in Vancouver.”

Elevated Yet Approachable French-West Coast Cuisine

Leading the kitchen at June is Chef Connor Sperling, formerly Chef de Cuisine at Michelin-starred Published on Main. Sperling, who gained national recognition as the winner of the 2017 Hawksworth Young Chef competition, has crafted a menu that blends French culinary traditions with fresh West Coast ingredients.

The dinner menu at June will feature dishes such as French ravioli, Beef Tartare with Calvados and potato chips, Steak Frites, and Halibut with spring vegetables. The restaurant will also offer playful menu items during Happy Hour and late-night service, including the “June Dog” and “Mini Hammies.”

For dessert, guests can expect nostalgic sweet treats, including banana soft serve and chocolate Madeleines. “With our dinner menu, it was important for us to curate an experience that isn’t too fussy but still elevated and special,” said Sperling.

An Impressive Cocktail Program

Given The Keefer Bar’s expertise, June’s cocktail program is expected to be a highlight. Bar director Amber Bruce, bar manager Satoshi Yonemori (previously of Grapes & Soda), and head bartender Riley Maggs have designed a menu featuring both classic and inventive cocktails.

Signature drinks will incorporate French and Japanese influences, including the Genmaicha Clover Club (gin, grappa, lemon, raspberry, horseradish, honey, egg white), Sunflower Mauresque (Pernod, fino, tarragon, sunflower orgeat, lemon, milk, soda), and Blue Fizz (vodka, lime, calpico, blue banana, egg soda). Guests can also enjoy expertly crafted classics like the June Martini and the Burnt Gibson.

Thoughtfully Designed Interiors

June’s interior design is the work of Mexico City-based architect Héctor Esrawe, who also designed Watt’s Acre in San José del Cabo. The restaurant’s aesthetic includes a wooden ceiling, copper accents, and green ceramic tiles, creating a stylish and inviting atmosphere.

“June is truly a labor of love, a dream realized by all of us who’ve poured our hearts into it,” said general manager Leticia Castro.

Opening Details and Reservations

June, located at 3305 Cambie Street, will officially open on April 10, with select soft opening days beforehand. Initially, the restaurant will be open daily from 5 p.m. until late, with the downstairs bar area to follow at a later date. Reservations are now open for those eager to experience this exciting new addition to Vancouver’s dining scene.
