Daan Go Cake Lab, originally from Ontario, is set to open its first franchise location in British Columbia, specifically in Richmond. The bakery will start serving customers on April 15 at unit 100 – 4731 Garden City Road.
The menu includes creatively-shaped cakes like roasted pigs, lucky cats, and even a durian fruit. The store also offers a selection of character macarons, pastries, and ice cream.
Christopher Siu founded Daan Go Cake Lab in 2011 in the Greater Toronto Area. At the time, Siu worked full-time as a pharmacist while also starting his baking business from home. He first competed in the second season of Masterchef Canada, but rose to fame in Canada for his participation and ultimate win in the seventh all-star season of MasterChef Canada,
Siu had always dreamed of expanding Daan Go across Canada, and the opening of the Richmond, BC location marks a significant milestone for him. Siu expressed his excitement, saying, “Having worked really hard to make this happen, I’ve been falling in love with Vancouver in the process.”
Alongside Siu, the Daan Go Cake Lab BC team also includes David Jorge, winner of MasterChef Canada season two.
The store is hosting its grand opening on April 15, with promotions such as 10% off all weekend, free giveaways, and the first 25 customers receiving a $25.00 gift card.
