Sushi MAHANA, North Vancouver’s acclaimed Kyushu-style omakase restaurant, unveils DANRAN by MAHANA, an elevated at-home sushi experience designed to bring people together through fine dining. Inspired by the Japanese concept of “danran” (団欒)—which embodies connection and joy through shared meals—DANRAN redefines home dining with meticulously crafted sushi and premium sake pairings.
Created by owner Yuki Aida and Sushi Master Chef Hiroshi Hoshiko, DANRAN encapsulates the artistry and precision of Sushi MAHANA’s in-restaurant experience. “DANRAN is about more than just great food,” says Aida. “It’s about reconnecting over a beautifully curated meal that transforms an ordinary evening into something special.”
Each DANRAN Nigiri Box showcases 24 pieces of seasonal, hand-selected sushi, wrapped in elegant, reusable cedar packaging. Featuring seven varieties of premium Japanese fish and Sushi MAHANA’s signature tamagoyaki, the set is priced at $250, serving two. Guests can elevate their experience with the Premium Appetizer Box ($80), featuring seasonal small plates that pair perfectly with the sushi.
For a true omakase experience at home, DANRAN offers expertly curated sake pairings. Selections include the Toko Junmai Ginjo Genshu, the crisp Gassan Hojun Karakuchi Junmai, and two rare releases from Miyagi’s Hirakoh Sake Brewery, priced between $90 and $400.
DANRAN is available for pre-order on Tock, with a daily limit of six boxes to ensure peak quality. Same-day orders must be placed by noon, with pick-up from 4 to 6 p.m.
Perfect for holiday gifting or intimate celebrations, DANRAN by MAHANA brings luxurious omakase home, offering a chance to savor world-class sushi in a cozy, meaningful setting.
