Japan’s Marugame Udon is Opening in Downtown Vancouver on February 24, 2024

Marugame Udon, Japan’s celebrated noodle eatery, is thrilled to announce the grand opening of its Downtown Vancouver branch on Saturday, February 24th.

Situated at 589 Beatty Street, this spacious 80-seat establishment will be open daily, serving delicious Sanuki-style udon noodles, tempura, and rice bowls for lunch and dinner from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

This debut in Vancouver marks a milestone for the global brand, as it’s Marugame Udon‘s inaugural venture into Canada, adding to its count of 263 overseas locations. To commemorate this special occasion, Marugame Udon is offering a limited-time promotion on opening day: every bowl purchased on February 24th will include a complimentary serving of their famous tempura.

Guests will be greeted by the lively and immersive atmosphere of freshly cooked udon and tempura. With its unique theatre-like setting and open kitchen, Marugame Udon offers an experience allowing guests to witness noodles being freshly kneaded, cut, and boiled to order, providing a taste of Japan in the heart of Downtown Vancouver.

Marugame Udon is globally recognized for its made-to-order Sanuki-style udon, originating from Japan’s Kagawa Prefecture. These noodles are thick, chewy, and slightly firm, offering the perfect “Marugame texture” and are complemented by house-made fragrant soup stock and an array of toppings.

The Vancouver menu includes udon dishes such as Kake Udon, Nikutama, and Kitsune, along with rice bowls like Chicken Katsu Curry Don and an assortment of tempura at the 3,500 square feet restaurant.

Victor Hisao Misawa, President of Marugame Udon International, expresses his excitement about the Vancouver opening, highlighting the upcoming Marugame Matsuri (festival in Japanese) in March to commemorate the brand’s first Canadian location.
