Renowned Chef Ricardo Valverde Introduces the “SUYO con Amigos” Series, Featuring Four Collaboration Dinners with Vancouver’s Exceptional Culinary Minds

The acclaimed SUYO Modern Peruvian restaurant, renowned for its vibrant atmosphere and delectable cuisine, is set to elevate the dining experience with an innovative new dinner series named “SUYO con Amigos” (SUYO with Friends).

This exclusive collection of one-night-only dining events will unite esteemed chefs to celebrate Vancouver’s diverse culinary scene through collaborative culinary adventures.

The “SUYO con Amigos” dinner series promises an exhilarating journey, showcasing the flavours and techniques that have propelled SUYO to prominence in Canada’s dining landscape.

Over the past 18 months, SUYO has garnered accolades such as a Michelin Guide Recommendation, an Exceptional Cocktail Award in 2023, and recent recognition in 50 Best Discovery and Conde Nast Traveller’s Vancouver Guide.

The series will shine a spotlight on accomplished chefs representing cuisines that have deeply influenced Peruvian culinary traditions, alongside SUYO Chef/Partner Ricardo Valverde.

Chef Valverde expressed his excitement about the collaborations, emphasizing the celebration of culinary talent, friendship, and shared passion for the craft. “Each chef and restaurant featured in this series holds a special place in my heart, representing some of my favorite dining spots in Vancouver,” said Chef Valverde.

The series kicks off with a collaboration dinner on March 14, 2024, featuring Chef Jason Hemi from the acclaimed Bar Haifa. Subsequent collaborations throughout the year will include Chef Ivy Yang for SUYO x Elisa (June 13), Chef Warren Chow for SUYO x Wildlight Kitchen + Bar (September 12), and Chef Masayoshi Baba for SUYO x Masayoshi (November 18).

Bar Haifa, launched in November 2023, brings together a diverse group of close friends and seasoned restaurateurs from Palestinian and Israeli-Jewish backgrounds. Chef Hemi will bring his expertise to the collaboration, offering a unique fusion of Israeli, Palestinian, and Peruvian flavors and techniques. The menu will feature SUYO’s vibrant Scallop Tiradito alongside Bar Haifa’s Shawarma Braised Lamb Shoulder, as well as innovative modern interpretations of traditional fare. Guests will also have the opportunity to savour Chef Ricardo’s modern Peruvian dishes alongside Bar Haifa’s famous Hummus.
