New Vancouver restaurants opened in May 2018

Angus T [Yaletown]
has opened doors at 1036 Mainland St. with promises of “artisan handcrafted croissants and delicious pastries made right in front of your eyes,” Milano Coffee Roasters is the coffee provider for the new Yaletown eatery. @angustvancouver [DailyHive]

Ba Le [Mount Pleasant] has opened their 2nd location at 691 E. Broadway to serve traditional Vietnamese sandwiches. @balevancity [Vancouver Foodster]

Bel Cafe [Kitsilano] has opened their 2nd location at 1780 West 3rd Ave, designed by the talents from studioCM. With 16-seat cafe with additional outdoor patio seating, and similar to its downtown counterpart, the menu will consist of specialty coffees and tea, freshly baked pastries, desserts, gourmet soups, salads, and sandwiches, and seasonal offerings. @belcafeyvr [Straight]

Cacao 70 Dippery [Steveston] is located at 3866 Bayview Street, Richmond offering dips in a variety of flavours including peanut butter, black sesame, chai, praline, maple, coffee plus milk, dark and white chocolate. Drinks include brewed and chilled chocolate drinks featuring several flavours of frappes such as strawberry, mint and salted caramel. [Richmond News]

Captain’s Boil [West End] the latest location of the Cajun seafood boil restaurant chain has opened doors at 1479 Robson Street, where Hapa Izakaya’s original location was.  The 2,100 square-foot space fits approximately 92 patrons, with a VIP room that seats 10. [Vancouver Foodster]

Delhi Belly Indian Cuisine [West Vancouver] can be found at 1145 Marine Drive, West Vancouver, serving classic Indian dishes and thali style lunch [Northshore News]

DL Chicken Shack [Commercial Drive] can be found at 905 Commercial Drive. The food is in line with the “Nashville Hot” style, similar to the owner’s other Commercial Drive eatery, Merchant’s Workshop, where it was a popular weekly special – crispy, juicy, and spicy fried chicken. @dlchicken [Scout]

Earl’s Ambleside Beach [West Vancouver] just had their grand opening at 1375 Bellevue Ave, West Vancouver, the first new Earls location in almost 10 years, with new West Coast-meets-California beach vibes. The restaurant can seat 269 (189 on the inside, 80 on the patio). Besides the classic Earls dishes, they have introduced vegan friendly items on their menu. After being successful in the U.S. Market,  it’s exciting to see Earls goes back to the grass root.  [Straight]

Fun Hei  [Cambie Village, Mount Pleasant] has become the latest addition to the Asian dessert spots in Cambie Village at 3432 Cambie Street, serving fresh tea based beverages and Cantonese style desserts. [Vancouver Foodster]

Gobble [Kitsilano] is determined to serve restaurant-level food but without fancy thrills at 2017 West 4th Avenue. The 15-seat eatery also has 4 outdoor seats, offering  streamlined American-style comfort food  with vegan options. The menu is gluten- and dairy-free. @gobblevancouver [Straight]

Green Moustache Organic Cafe [North Vancouver]  is located at 117 W 1st St, North Vancouver. Green Moustache franchises are in Whistler, Squamish, Revelstoke, and Lower Lonsdale, with cafés in Edgemont and Port Moody due to open this summer, serving 100% organic, gluten + dairy free, whole food cuisine.  [Vancouver Courier]

Heirloom Vegetarian Restaurant [West Vancouver] has opened a new location at 1390 Marine Drive, West Vancouver. The new spot is a different take than its full-service restaurant in South Granville (1509 West 12th Avenue). Right near to Ambleside Beach, it’s a more casual concept, where you order at the front till and take a number, and someone brings you your food.  @heirloomveg [Straight]

Heirs Pears [Downtown] has opened doors at 605 Nelson Street and aim to serve casual and convenient meals at a fair price. They offer “hackable” meals made from ethically sourced ingredients, meaning guests can customize the components of their meal to meet their values and nutritional desires.  @heirspears [Vancouver Foodster]

Hustle Pizza Co [Commercial Drive] is located at 1110 Commercial Drive, offers patrons a selection of quality homestyle pizza that can easily be purchased and grabbed on the go. While Vegan offerings are at the core of the menu, they offer traditional pizza as well. @hustlepizzaco [DailyHive]

Izakaya Gon’s [West End] has become the latest izakya joint in the West End at 854 Denman Street, serving dishes from light snacks to deep fried eats, cold seafood selections, sashimi, and grilled meats, along with treats like shaved ice for dessert. As is the style of an izakaya, Gon’s dishes are reasonably priced and designed for sharing, particularly with drinks  @izakaya_gons [VancouverIsAwesome]

Nana’s Green Tea [Kerrisdale] has opened their first North American location at 2135 West 41st Ave, making it the very first location in North America. As one of Japan’s most populous cafés, the cafe features  the hall-like space features smart, modern décor, with 18 seats at tables and eight counter spots.Matcha is their main focus, with offerings such as matcha kuromitsu (black sugar syrup) frappe, matcha soda, matcha soft-cream latte with chocolate crunch, and more. @nanasgreenteacanada [Straight]

Tandoori Flame [Surrey] has brought the “Grand Indian Buffet” experience to 11970 88th Avenue, Surrey, providing a rustic, traditional yet contemporary design overlooking the bustling of Scott Rd through 200 linear feet of glass walls.  @tandooriflame [Vancouver Foodster]
