Bean Banh Mi [Kensington] has opened doors at 1198 Kingsway, taken over the former spot of Tung Hing Bakery, serving modern Vietnamese fare. Brewhall [Strathcona] has opened doors at 97 East 2nd Avenue. The brewery features a 10-barrel system with 6 fermenters, 8 serving vessels, and 2 bright tanks, serving a wide variety of different beers available using a direct draft line from the serving vessels straight to the draft system. @brewhall
Browns Crafthouse [Downtown] is the new concept from Browns Socialhouse – on the first level of the new 10-floor office tower at 510 Seymour Street, with a menu including a brunch menu, a ‘day drinking’ column, a taco bar, power salad bowls, Asian street bowls, and a soft serve bar. @brownscrafthouse [DailyHive]
Buns + Boba Tea House [Mount Pleasant] is located at 327 E. Broadway. The specialty tea house, cafe, and bakery in Mount Pleasant serving craft teas and coffee using whole fresh ingredients for a healthy and natural flavour profile. “No concentrates or powders used”, they proclaimed. @bunsandboba
Cacao Upstairs [Kitsilano] is the new project of Cacao, the popular established known for their progressive Latin cuisine. The 20-seat eatery/bar occupies the floor directly above its original space. It will be a more casual extension of its sister restaurant, focusing on sharing plates and signature libations at 1898 West 1st Ave [Straight]
Cliff House Restaurant [North Vancouver] is the new 1,350-square-foot restaurant in Capilano Suspension Bridge Park amongst the lush trees overlooking the Capilano Canyon—this is the most serene spot for a patio. It seats 76-people inside and 74-people outside on the patio, a perfect spot to relax after braving the suspension bridge. [604Now]
DD Mau [Chinatown] has finally opened doors at 145 E. Pender. The 3000 sqft space includes a large commissary kitchen that will serve both locations in Yaletown & Chinatown, and a dining space for 50 seats and an 8 seat bar. Edwards Seafood and Spirits [Gastown] is the new Fish & Chip restaurant and cocktail bar that has taken over Bao Down’s old location at 12 Powell Street. @edwardsseafood

[Hastings Sunrise] is a Japanese-inspired marketplace and café at 3596 East Hastings Street, offering everything from vegetarian and vegan foods to organic coffee and local goods. Hey Kokomo [Kitsilano] is their 2nd location at 2028 Vine Street after they impressed the locals with their first establishment in Chinatown last year. Hon’s Wonton House [Olympic Village] can be found at 25 E. 2nd Avenue. Horn Ok Please [West End] is the new Indian eatery at 1162 Denman Street (formerly Falafel & Friends). The menu features butter chicken, chicken tikka, lamb seekh, panner, and mixed veggie, along with several kinds of curry. [DailyHive]

Laurence & Chico Café [West End] has opened doors at 833 Bute Street by New York-based designers, Laurence Li and Chico Wang, known for their colorful contemporary accessories and womenswear brand sported by the likes of Cardi B and Solange Knowles. M8 [Yaletown] has opened doors at 1010 Beach Avenue, the former location of Ten Ten Tapas, using only the best seasonal produce on the menu. Instead of using greenhouse-grown or internationally-shipped produce that is lacking in flavor and appeal, they shift their menu every season. @m8yvr
Mary’s on Davie [West End] an incarnation of the original Hamburger Mary at 1202 Davie Street, an iconic diner of the Davie Village community. It now features a new 41-feet-long bar and seats 61 patrons inside, and an additional 40 on the patio. The barside mirrors give those seated at the bar views of the whole room, with several TV concealed behind them that can be activated for special events. Menya Raizo [Mount Pleasant] can be found at 401 West Broadway, the location of the former Menya Ramen. Part of the Zakkushi Group, Raizo is also the sister restaurant of Ramen Raijin in Toronto and in Burnaby at Metrotown. [Vancouver is Awesome]
Milssam Tacorea [Yaletown] is located at 1130 Mainland Street restaurant eatery, having replaced Zend Conscious Lounge after it closed its doors. Mumbai Local [West End] has opened doors at 1148 Davie Street, bringing on Mumbai-style street food to West Enders, determined to prove that there’s more to Indian cuisine than familiar dishes. Origo Club [Richmond] is the spinoff of an exclusive members-only club and art showcase in Beijing, located at 110-6888 River Road, Richmond. Seating for 42 at the stunning white marble-topped tables, along with several private rooms for larger groups and tea tastings. The 5,200 sq. ft. spot has French bistro in style but with an array of Chinese elements. The kitchen team includes Head Chef David Pan (Bishops) and Sous Chefs Dilan Draper (Wildebeest) and Tony Hua (Toronto’s Cava), and has crafted a menu of French cuisine plated to perfection. Our Town Cafe [Mount Pleasant] has delivered the Version 2.0 of the neighbourhood favourite at 245 E. Broadway. The food menu is starting off simple with breakfast and lunch fare, but will expand, including a light evening menu of finger foods and charcuterie boards. Pepino’s Spaghetti House [Commercial Drive] is run by the team behind Fraserhood’s critically acclaimed Savio Volpe in Vancouver’s Little Italy at 631 Commercial Drive, where the former Nick’s Spaghetti House is located. Unlike Savio, which serves up authentic Italian dishes, Pepino’s offers Italian-American classics, featuring items like spaghetti and meatballs, chicken piccata, Caesar salad, peppercorn-crusted prime rib, and house lasagna. @pepinosspaghettihouse [Straight]
Popina Canteen [Granville Island] is the new eatery by four of Vancouver’s star-chefs – Angus An, Robert Belcham, Hamid Salimian, and Joël Watanabe. Between them they have 12 restaurants – including Campagnolo, Monarch Burger, Kissa Tanto, Bao Bei, Fat Mao, and Sen Pad Thai. The team project has lasted about four years, and it’s their version of fast food, including a grass-fed beef cheeseburger, whole East Coast lobster, smoked wild salmon and even fresh avocado toast (for the millennials). Purebread Bakery [Mount Pleasant] has opened their 2nd location at 8 East 5th, serving house-baked breads, such as hazelnut fig, sour cherry chocolate, rustic baguettes, walnut raisin, olive rosemary, ciabatta, and cheddar jalapeno, among others. Shizen Ya Denman [West End] has opened their 3rd Downtown location at 1059 Denman Street. They are known for their focus on health-oriented menu offerings: all sushi is made with brown rice; organic vegetables are used in their dishes; and vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options are available.
